The hatch handles are notorious for breaking on xBs, and the factory replacements are just as flimsy. So a fair chunk of them have some sort of tape holding it on.
Could be worse, it could have a combination of fossilized duct tape & sheetrock screws like the $1000 xB I just bought.

They are great cars, so long as you are ok with the fact they are cheap in some ways(tinny doors, road/wind noise). They handle great, and the 108hp engine have a lot of enthusiasm to make up for the lack of power.
My other xB jsut passed 200K miles, of which I put on 108K in the last 6 years. In that time aside from maintenance items like brakes, tires & belts the only repairs it has needed was an exhaust gasket & a starter.

Mine broke a while back. I got mine from brokenhatchhandle.com not sure if it still works, but it's a chrome version that actually looks good on my TCM '05.
